Christchurch tango teacher, Marian Maguire, will be running two workshops in Tauranga on Saturday 27th February at the Tauranga Baptish Church Hall corner of Cameron and 13th Avenue.
Workshop 1: Rhythm and Phrasing I
Workshop 2: Rhythm and Phrasing II
Connection and navigation will be an essential part of both workshops but the main focus will be on extending the feeling of the dance musically.
For Marian the music is the essential connector within tango. It is what each person, each couple hears. It provides a framework, a commonality. The music influences our choice of moves as leads and the way we execute them as followers.
Building an understanding about the beat, the rhythms, phrasing, melody line and emotional pitch takes a long time but makes a huge difference to the quality of anyone's dancing. It's really good to work on musicality as a group so that the feeling of the tango sound pervades what you share at the milonga.
$20 for one workshop, $35 for two
Limited private lessons available $70 per hour
